Veg Disney – PizzeRizzo

Hi guys!

Disney (relatively) recently opened PizzeRizzo in Hollywood Studios, replacing what used to be Pixar-themed Pizza Planet with a Muppets-themed quick-service location. I ate there a few months ago and it was super tasty!

Basic info: PizzeRizzo is a quick-service restaurant located in Disney’s Hollywood Studios. It offers mobile ordering but no cast or passholder discounts. It is listed as costing $15 and under per adult.

Kid’s Cheese Pizza

I always order kid’s meals at Disney because when you consider the two sides (which you can usually swap out at your preference) the portions are pretty filling, and they’re always cheaper. At PizzeRizzo, you get a small cheese pizza, two sides, and a kid’s drink for $6.49 (the adult portion costs $3 more).

Vegetable Pizza

This is topped with mushrooms, peppers, onions, and tomatoes, and it costs $9.99. I didn’t try it but it is the only other vegetarian option so I figured it was worth mentioning. (If you’re looking for something healthier, order the $10.49 antipasto salad without ham.)

It’s a short one for today, but PizzeRizzo has a short menu! Have a magical week!

Veg Disney – Be Our Guest

Hi guys!

Okay, I’m here today to talk about the Big One. Everyone wants to eat at Be Our Guest when they come to Disney, and fortunately it has some amazing vegetarian options. I haven’t gone for dinner since becoming veggie, so here I’m just going to discuss breakfast and lunch.

Basic info: Be Our Guest is unique in that it is a quick-service restaurant for lunch and a table-service restaurant for dinner. Annual Passholders get a 10% discount for dinner, and Cast Members also get a discount at dinner. The menu items can run up to $35 per adult.

Breakfast

Croissant Doughnut

You guys, this is so good. It costs $24 and comes with fresh fruit and a complimentary pastry tray. Combined with those two sides, it could be sweet tooth overload, so keep that in mind. You can get something like this (without whipped cream and chocolate sauce) way cheaper at the entrance to World Showcase in Epcot.

Vegetable Quiche

This is also $24 but I think it’s a much better option. It’s also served with fresh fruit and a pastry tray, so there’s a lot more balance as far as flavors go. Also, this quiche is incredibly well done, especially when you consider that BOG is technically a quick service at this time of day. (Note: they sell a fancier version of this at lunch for about $15.)

Lunch

French Onion Soup

Okay, I know this is an appetizer. HOWEVER. Vegetarian French onion soup is so incredibly rare because a typical recipe involves beef bouillon cubes, but Be Our Guest uses vegetable stock. This soup is very filling and only $6.49, allowing you to save financial room for…

The Grey Stuff

At lunchtime, the grey stuff is sold on a chocolate cupcake for $4.99. It’s not anything special (spoiler: the grey stuff is basically Oreo pudding) but you have to try it if you come to Be Our Guest. It’s the principle of the thing.

Lemon Merengue Cupcake

Quite frankly, I preferred this over the chocolate cupcake. It costs the same but is a much lighter option, especially after a big meal. You just really can’t go wrong with pastries at Disney.

Sorry for the long post today; I went to Be Our Guest three times on my CP and got something new every time so I had a lot to talk about!

Veg Disney – Satu’li Canteen

Hi guys!

Today I’m going to be spotlighting Disney’s newest restaurant: Satu’li Canteen in Pandora!

Basic info: Satu’li is a quick-service restaurant located in the Pandora section of Animal Kingdom. It offers mobile ordering through the My Disney Experience app, as well as the Disney Dining Plan; however, there is no discount for Cast Members or Annual Passholders. Menu items are $15 and under per adult.

Crispy Fried Tofu Bowl

These bowls are fully customizable; pictured above is wild rice, fried tofu, garden slaw with (very strange-tasting) yogurt boba balls, and black bean chipotle sauce. You could also use fish as your protein if you’re pesca. The other base options are quinoa salad, potato hash, and kale salad; the other sauce options are onion chimichurri and herb dressing.

While my dish was good…certainly head-and-shoulders above regular park food, not to mention easier to vegetarian-ize than just about anything else Disney sells…I also felt like I could’ve made it better at home for less money. But, of course, that’s the nature of eating in-park. I’d definitely still recommend this to guests who are more health-conscious or even just tired of eating french fries and Greek yogurt at every quick-service.

Note: I see a lot of the blueberry cream cheese mousse on Instagram. It is beautiful and, unfortunately, not true vegetarian (it contains gelatin). To the best of my knowledge the chocolate cake is true vegetarian, but I didn’t try it and can’t vouch for the taste.

Thanks for reading, guys! As always feel free to check out my Instagram and let me know if there’s anything you’d like me to try on my next trip!

Veg Disney – Chef Mickey’s

Hi guys!

Wow, it’s been awhile. So I’ve been running around like crazy (I was recently in New York, Connecticut, Asheville, and Orlando, just to name a few places) and haven’t had time to write.

But today I’m coming to you with the place of my childhood monorail-riding dreams: Chef Mickey’s!

Basic info: Chef Mickey’s is a table-service restaurant located in the Contemporary Resort next to Magic Kingdom. It is all-you-care-to-eat and a character dining experience featuring Mickey & friends. Breakfast is $41 flat rate and dinner is $50, but cast members and annual passholders get discounts here.

Chef Mickey’s offers a HUGE amount of vegetarian offerings. As with most Disney buffets, fresh fruit can be found in abundance. There are also omelette stations, pastries, pancakes, various kinds of potatoes, and, of course, the legendary Mickey waffles. The biscuits are incredible, as are the chocolate chip pancakes. Honestly everything is incredible. I would strongly recommend this to vegetarians because there really is something for everyone.

Veg Disney – La Hacienda de San Angel

Hi guys!

Today I’m talking about my favorite spot in the Mexican pavilion in Epcot: La Hacienda de San Angel! Most people immediately think of San Angel Inn when they think of the Mexican pavilion (that’s the one next to the Three Caballeros attraction), but I think La Hacienda has better food.

Basic info: La Hacienda is a table-service restaurant located in the Mexico pavilion at Epcot. It is listed on the website as being $15-$35 per person. Dining plan credits are available here but AP and cast discounts are not.

Here I went with two appetizers instead of one entree based on the lack of true vegetarian entrees. My favorite was the Crema de Elote, a spicy and delicious corn chowder with tortilla strips. I also had the Ensalada de la Hacienda, which is your basic spinach salad with queso fresco, tomatoes, pomegranate seeds, pine nuts, avocado, and mustard vinaigrette. It was good, too, but it felt like something I could’ve just as easily gotten at Panera Bread or even made myself. That said, I probably could’ve had a double serving of the soup and called it a meal.

This is a short one today guys, but I recently ate at Satu’li Canteen in Pandora so expect an article on that one soon!

Veg Disney – Garden Grill

Hi guys!

Today I’m here to talk about my very favorite Disney restaurant: Garden Grill!

Basic info: Garden Grill is located on the second floor of the Land pavilion in Epcot (right above Soarin’). It costs $45 flat rate per person and is all you care to eat. Cast members get 40% off, annual passholders get 20%, and table-service dining plan credits are accepted. This is a character dining experience where you get to meet Chip, Dale, Mickey, and Pluto. The restaurant also rotates through the Living With the Land attraction.

Pictured above is the vegetarian offering here: veggie loaf, the best mashed potatoes I’ve ever tasted, the only sweet potato fries I like, rice and green beans, and mac’n’cheese topped with Goldfish crackers. You will need to inform your seater and your server that you want the vegetarian offering, and it’s SO GOOD. I had thirds. They also serve you fresh salad and bread and butter.

This strawberry shortcake is the dessert, and it’s just as good. It’s one of those things you just don’t have room for until you look at it. You get free refills, so to speak, on this as well.

Well that’s all for tonight! I don’t have much to say about Garden Grill except that it’s completely amazing. I would definitely recommend splurging on a meal here.

Veg Disney – Trail’s End

Hi guys!

Last time I was at Disney I went to one of my favorite restaurants: Trail’s End! This is an all-you-care-to-eat buffet that’s open all day long, but I prefer going for breakfast.

Basic info: Trail’s End is a table-service restaurant located at the Campsites at Fort Wilderness. It runs about $35 flat rate per adult not including alcoholic beverages, but annual passholders get a 20% discount and cast members get 40%. It is eligible for TSR dining plan credits.

There are two hallmarks of a Trail’s End breakfast, and both are vegetarian. The first is jungle juice, which is the same thing as what ‘Ohana calls Stitch juice. It’s basically a tropical fruit juice and it is SO good oh my gosh. The other is the French toast bread pudding, pictured above in a little bowl.

Trail’s End does feature your standard breakfast foods (oatmeal, eggs, tater tots, cold cereal, pastries, etc) but they also offer classic Mickey waffles, a huge variety of fresh fruits, and vegetable frittata. It’s impossible not to find something you like here.

This is one of my absolute favorite places to go eat on property; I even had my birthday dinner here! (They don’t sing but they do call attention to you, and you get complimentary strawberry shortcake.) I’d highly recommend trying it on your next trip to Disney.

Veg Disney – D-Luxe Burger

Hi guys!

So I’m currently in Orlando, and the other night my friends and I went to D-Luxe Burger in Disney Springs. I’ve been here before for shakes and fries (which, by the way, I strongly recommend) but this was my first time going for real food.

Basic info: D-Luxe Burger is located in Disney Springs near Frontera Cocina and Blaze Pizza. It runs $15 and less per adult. DDP, AP discount, and CM discount are accepted. They also have a Cast Member meal.

Unsurprisingly, D-Luxe has very limited veggie options. This veggie burger, running me about $10, is the only one. However, it’s a really high-quality veggie burger, the best one I’ve had in a long time. It comes topped with green bean salad, dill spread, lettuce, tomato, and cheese if you ask.

I’d also strongly recommend the $8 cake batter milkshake. These shakes are average size but very filling. My friends and I always share.

This is a short one today but as a vegetarian I normally would never have even considered D-Luxe so this felt necessary!

Veg Disney – Columbia Harbour House

Hi guys!

So today I’m spotlighting my home location. Harbour House is located in Liberty Square in Magic Kingdom, and y’all. It’s home.

For guests who are pesca, this is an awesome place to eat. CHH does sell a large variety of seafood, from fried shrimp to fried pollock to salmon. However, there are also quite a few options for true vegetarians. (Side note: I very strongly recommend against eating here if you’re allergic to shellfish/any kind of seafood. Cross-contamination is highly likely, especially in a kitchen as small as ours.)

Basic info: Columbia Harbour House is a quick-service dining location eligible for quick-service DDP credits. It is in the <$15 per adult category on Disney’s website. Cast members and annual passholders do not get a discount here.

Lighthouse Sandwich – this is my favorite menu item. The Lighthouse will run you about $11 and has tomato, hummus, and broccoli slaw (don’t knock it ’til you try it). It comes with housemade chips but don’t be shy about swapping it for another side, like fries or green beans.

Broccoli Peppercorn Salad – this salad is also about $11 and comes with chicken, but it’s not difficult for the kitchen cast to prep it without meat and it’s also a little cheaper that way. (Pesca eaters, you can sub salmon for a little extra money.) The toppings include corn, onions, peas, broccoli, parmesan cheese, and sunflower seeds.

Macaroni & Cheese – the mac’n’cheese runs about $13 and comes topped with shrimp, but again, you can get it without. It’s actually the same mac served over at Friar’s Nook in Fantasyland. Personally, the way I go about ordering mac’n’cheese at Harbour is ordering a kid’s meal, since it comes with two sides and a drink (I’m partial to Gogo Squeez applesauce and a cookie). Cast members won’t give adults a hard time about ordering off the kids’ menu; most of us do it ourselves to save money.

Blueberry Cobbler – oh my god guys. My coworkers had a running joke about how much I love that dumb cobbler. It’s $5 and worth every single penny. It’s my favorite thing at Harbour and the best days were the ones when our leaders let us take some home. I’ve included a picture below of the time I was on my break and my friend was playing in the park and I got him and his girlfriend to buy me a cobbler.

That’s all for today guys! If you have any Harbour-specific questions feel free to comment. I know that place inside and out by now. I’ll be back in Disney next weekend so let me know if you have QSR restaurant suggestions!

Veg Disney – 50’s Prime Time Café

Hi guys!

So for today’s review of vegetarian Disney I’m jumping over to the parks…more specifically, Disney’s Hollywood Studios! Studios is going through a lot of changes currently (Star Wars fans are in for the experience of a lifetime!) but fortunately they’re keeping one of my favorite Disney table service restaurants: 50’s Prime Time Café!

The café is centered around the theme of a small home set in the 50’s, aka the era of the Mouseketeers and poodle skirts. Your servers become your family, and they harass you just like your real family.

Basic info: 50’s Prime Time is a table-service location eligible for the Disney Dining Plan, Annual Passholder discount, and Cast Member discount. Prices run around $15-$35 per adult. If you only want one of the famous milkshakes, there’s a bar off to the left side of the restaurant. You can order there without reservations.

So I went here around the third week of my program and ordered the vegetable lasagna. This is the only true vegetarian item on the adult menu (there is salmon, if you’re pesca, and chicken caesar salad without chicken, if you’re extra picky), and I was wary. I’ve never been a big lasagna person, and this dish contains zucchini (my least favorite food). But I ended up loving it! It costs $19 but I did have leftovers, just keep in mind that they don’t keep for very long. This contains soy protein, mushrooms, zucchini, and a boatload of cheese. It’s honestly awesome.

I also indulged in the café’s specialty, a peanut butter & jelly milkshake. Shakes are $7 but easily shared. I can also vouch for the malts here!

Let me know if you guys have any more questions about this restaurant, or any requests for specific restaurants in the future. Happy eating!
